THE CHORE OF ENCHANTMENT
by Vincent Gambini
Underbelly, Edinburgh Fringe, 1-27 August 2018

The world is in turmoil, global news events hardly seem possible. Can magic provide the much-needed solace for these difficult times? Vincent Gambini is not so sure.
Disillusioned by illusions, struggling with “magician’s block”, Gambini unveils the hidden difficulties of being a conjuror.
Combining deadpan reflections with jaw-dropping sleight-of-hand magic, this new show plays expertly with our understandings of deception, artifice and theatrical make-believe.
Following from the critically acclaimed This is not a magic show (2015-2016), the new performance sees Gambini working on a larger scale: no longer sitting at a table doing close-up magic, but standing on stage with a microphone, performing with music and voice over effects.
For audiences of 100-150 people
Running time: 70mins
(Edinburgh version 60mins)
Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
At Edinburgh Fringe 2018, co-presented in association with the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts.
Supported by University of Sussex, the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, Shoreditch Town Hall, Cambridge Junction, and ARC Stockton Arts Centre.
Written, directed & performed by Augusto Corrieri
Dramaturgy: Deborah Pearson
Producer: Sally Rose
